Technical Setup for Your Budget Planning Journey

Getting started with our event budget planning program doesn't require fancy equipment or expensive software. Most people already have what they need at home.

We've built our learning platform to work on standard devices because we believe access to quality education shouldn't depend on having the latest technology. That said, there are some baseline requirements to make sure you have a smooth experience throughout the program starting in autumn 2025.

What You'll Need to Get Started

Computer Specifications

  • Windows 10 or macOS 10.14 (or newer versions)
  • 4GB RAM minimum (8GB recommended for smoother multitasking)
  • At least 20GB of free storage space
  • Dual-core processor or better
  • Screen resolution of 1366x768 or higher
  • Built-in or external webcam for live sessions
  • Microphone and speakers (or headset)

Internet Connection

  • Stable broadband connection
  • Minimum 5 Mbps download speed
  • 10 Mbps or higher recommended for video calls
  • Wired connection preferred for live sessions
  • WiFi works fine for self-paced modules
  • Data usage: approximately 2-3GB per week

Modern Web Browser

Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. Keep it updated to the latest version for security and compatibility.

Spreadsheet Software

Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or LibreOffice Calc. We teach budget planning using tools you'll actually use in real work.

PDF Reader

Adobe Reader or your browser's built-in viewer. Most course materials come as downloadable PDFs you can reference anytime.

Video Conferencing

Zoom or Microsoft Teams. We'll send setup instructions before your first live session in the program.

Note-Taking Tool

Whatever works for you—Notion, OneNote, or even a simple text editor. Digital notes make searching easier later.

Cloud Storage

Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive for backing up your project files. Free accounts usually offer enough space.

Look, tech issues happen. A frozen screen during a live session or trouble accessing course materials can be frustrating. That's why we have real people ready to help you sort things out quickly so you can get back to learning.

Your Learning Environment Matters

Setting up a comfortable workspace makes a real difference when you're spending several hours a week on course material. You don't need a dedicated home office, but having a spot where you can focus without constant interruptions helps.

Good lighting reduces eye strain during evening study sessions. A comfortable chair matters more than you'd think when working through budget spreadsheets. And having your materials organized—whether that's digital bookmarks or a physical notebook—saves time when you need to reference something quickly.

Pro tip from past students: Keep a backup charging cable at your workspace. Nothing's worse than your laptop dying halfway through a case study analysis, and you realize your charger is in another room.
